1. Panasonic Pursuing \200 billion in Commercial AC Sales by FY 2020
In July 2017, Panasonic announced its plan to earn \200 billion (about US$ 1.8 billion) in Commercial AC business by fiscal year 2020.  Panasonic has seen strong sales of room air conditioners (RACs) in Asia and enjoys a large market share especially in Malaysia. It is now taking this business model to other markets in the Asian region. Panasonic is also beginning to produce Commercial air conditioners focusing on PACs and VRF systems for Asia and Europe at its Malaysian plant, which in the past mainly focused on RAC production.

2. FEBRAVA 2017 Showcases Recovery of Brazilian HVAC&R Industry
From September 12 to 15, the 20th FEBRAVA was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, supported by ABRAVA, the Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating. During the four-day event, the 20th edition of FEBRAVA received about 28,000 visitors. The fair attracted 282 exhibitors with more than 50 newcomers.

3. Carrier & Midea Launch Residential Ductless HVAC JV in North America
Carrier and Midea America, a subsidiary of Midea Group, launched Carrier Midea North America. The new joint venture (JV) will bring together Carrier’s extensive distribution network and Midea’s ductless development expertise to meet growing demand in North America for residential ductless heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Carrier will hold the majority ownership position.

4. EUREKA 2017 to Explore Best Way for the HVAC&R Sector to Involve Generation Z

5. Chinese Manufacturers Expand AC Production in refrigeration year 2017 (RY 2017)
According to the State Information Center, Chinese domestic retail sales of air conditioners in refrigeration year 2017 (RY 2017) spanning September 2016 to August 2017 reached 56.22 million units, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%. Sales revenues increased by 30.5% year-on-year, creating the best record in history. Sales in the urban market reached 40.62 million units, an increase of 30% while sales in the rural market reached 15.6 million units, an increase of 24.8%. According to statistics, from August 2016 to June 2017, production of room air conditioners (RACs) in China reached 165 million units.
