1. RAC Trends Shifting to More Multi-Functions-- From Room Temperature Control to IAQ Control
Keeping ahead of overseas manufacturers in energy-saving and new refrigerant technologies, Japanese RAC manufacturers are also leading the market in terms of the development of various functions involving new technologies. Until now, RACs have served as equipment for merely cooling and heating rooms. Now, however, they are required to offer added values as equipment that can enhance the in-door air quality (IAQ) including the airflow and air purity in the room.

2. ENGIE’s Chillers to Install at Major Airport in Russia
After equipping Domodedovo Airport in Moscow terminal 1 with chillers in 2014, ENGIE has now received a second major order. Domodedovo Airport is becoming Russia’s most important aviation hub and is Moscow’s largest airport with more than 33 million air passengers a year. ENGIE was awarded the contract for equipping terminal 2 with refrigeration technology in an international request for tender.

3. Samsung Expands Max Heat Series
Samsung is expanding the Max Heat pump and heat recovery series with commercial, light commercial and residential products. The Max Heat product line yields an advantage for Samsung with its ability to provide enhanced heating performance. The DVM S Max Heat variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems are equipped with flash injection technology which supports 100% heating capacity at -13°F (-25℃).

4. Emerson Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Rayong Plant in Thailand
On August 11, 2017, Emerson celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Rayong Plant for commercial and residential solutions platform in Thailand. Throughout the two decades, the company has manufactured more than 80 million high quality compressors to cater for markets across the globe, including Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

5. Changhong to Invest Over RMB 1 Billion to Build New AC Production Base
On August 9, Meiling announced that its subsidiary Changhong planned to invest RMB 1.09 billion (US$ 166 million) to build a new air conditioner production base at Mianyang, Sichuan Province. After expansion, the annual production capacity of the new base will reach 4.2 million units, including 4 million high efficiency residential air conditioners and 0.2 million commercial air conditioners. The construction period of the project is planned to take 18 months, from August 2017 to February 2019. Moreover, it is reported that Changhong was chosen by Xiaomi as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for its air conditioners.
