1. ENGIE and Tabreed Join Forces
ENGIE has acquired a 40% stake in National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed) from Mubadala Investment, an investment company based in Abu Dhabi. The ENGIE Group expects to lead rapid growth through Tabreed, in emerging markets such as India, Egypt, and Turkey.

2. Daikin Opens an Office in Washington D.C
Daikin established its new North American facilities in two locations- Houston and Washington D.C. - and held opening ceremonies for both of them. JARN published an article on the opening ceremony of the Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) facility in the June issue (See JARN June regular edition p.1). Daikin also held an opening ceremony on May 19 for the Washington D.C. office at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington D.C.

3. Tecumseh Strengthens Business through Adoption of New Refrigerants
JARN interviewed Douglas J. Murdock, president and CEO, Keith Gifford, director of Global Marketing, and Chong Hin Choy, managing director for Asia of Tecumseh during the China Refrigeration Expo (CRH) held in April 2017. They discussed Tecumseh’s vision surrounding new products, use of alternative refrigerants, and other important aspects of Tecumseh’s business.

4. Haier 2,400 RT Chiller Test Bench Passes AHRI Certification
Recently, Haier’s intelligent factory test benches for air-cooled and water-cooled chillers with capacities of up to 2,400 RT passed AHRI certification, effective from May 2017. Apart from these test benches, Haier also owns a test bench for chillers with capacities of up to 4,500 RT.

5. Nidec Making Extensive Inroads into Hanoi, Vietnam
Nidec has decided to make a second round of investment in Vietnam, investing about US$ 500 million in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in the northern part of Hanoi. On June 5, in order to meet the expanding demand for the world’s highest level energy saving and high performance motors centering on brushless DC motors, and also motors for robots and other high-performance appliances, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in Hanoi City.
