1. Zero Energy Homes and Appliances
Japan has set the national target of making homes constructed after 2020 zero energy homes (ZEH). The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced the government target of achieving ZEH in standard new home construction by 2020, and achieving average zero emissions in new home construction by 2030, as part of the Basic Energy Plan adopted by the Cabinet Council in April 2014.

2. Chemours Opteon XL55 Adopted in Midea Unitary ACs for North America
Chemours announced the selection of Opteon XL55 (R452B), a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, by China-based Midea for use in its unitary air conditioning units designed for the North America market. Opteon XL55 offers over 65% lower GWP than R410A, while yielding improved performance. Opteon XL55 is ASHRAE class 2L mildly flammable and has the lowest 2L flammability properties of leading R410A replacements.

3. Dorin Approves New Refrigerants
Dorin has conducted internal and external tests on four hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) blends, R449A, R448A, R513A, and R450A, in order to verify efficiency, economy, and retrofit capabilities on existing plants, and has now approved all four refrigerants. These refrigerants are non-flammable and non-toxic, and are classified in safety group A1.

5. Chinese Manufacturers Penetrating Overseas Market
As the China’s domestic market tends to be saturated, home appliance manufacturers are planning to expand overseas markets. China’s home appliance exports have shown a stable trend since the second half of last year, and smart home appliances are becoming popular.
