1. XVII European Conference
The 17th European Conference on ‘Green Technologies, Solar Cooling and the Latest Innovations in Refrigeration and Air conditioning’ will be held at Polytechnic University of Milan from June 10 to 17, 2017. The global industry associations including AHRI, ASHRAE, EPEE, and ASERCOM will participate in the conference.

2. Honeywell’s Latest HFO Technology
JARN interviewed David Cooper, global business director, Stationary Refrigerants, Honeywell Fluorine Products, the United States, during AHR Expo held in Las Vegas from January 30 to February 1, in order to bring to JARN readers an update on the company’s latest developments in the field of hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) technology.

3. Panasonic to Launch CO2 Refrigerating Machines in Europe
Panasonic has developed new 1.6 kW (2 hp) fluorocarbon-free refrigerating machines adopting CO2 refrigerant that are available in two types of specifications, standard and heavy salt damage-proof, for small stores or prefab refrigerated and cold storage facilities. From May 2017, the company will begin selling them in the European market that is leading the world in the penetration of CO2 equipment.

4. Spain Applies Tax on High-GWP Refrigerants
In Spain, supermarkets need to address new legislation applying to refrigerants. On January 1, 2017, a new tax on refrigerants was introduced in Spain. High global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants are increasingly targeted.

5. UTC Helping to Develop Green Buildings in China
On March 21, the 13th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building was held at the China National Convention Center. The theme of this conference was ‘Improving green building quality, promoting energy conservation and low carbon development’.  As a green building promoter and main supporter of the conference, United Technologies Corporation (UTC) participated in the conference with its commercial building subsidiaries (the elevator, air conditioning, fire control, and safety system sectors).
