1. Report of the Kobe Symposium 2016
Kobe Symposium 2016 successfully concluded on December 2 in the port city of Kobe in Japan. At this year’s Kobe Symposium, the results of five years of activity of the Research Committee on Risk Assessment of Mildly Flammable Refrigerants set up by the Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE), was released. The committee presented the findings of a research project on A2L refrigerants subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) introduced safety standards and guidelines to use and install air conditioning and refrigeration equipment adopting A2L refrigerants.

2. AHR Expo to Shine in Scintillating Las Vegas
The 2017 version of the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) will be held in Las Vegas, the United States, from January 30 to February 1. It is expected to host more than 2,000 exhibitors and attract crowds of 60,000 industry professionals from every state in the United States and 150 countries worldwide.

3. Ziehl-Abegg Invests 28 Million Euro in EC Production Base in Germany
Since worldwide demand for energy-saving fans and drives is rising, Ziehl-Abegg is constructing a new building for electronically commutated (EC) production in the Hohenlohe Business Park, BadenWurttemberg.

4. Emerson to Launch New Copeland Scroll for China Chiller Market
At the end of 2016, Emerson is launching new generation of Copeland Scroll compressors ranging from 20 to 25 hp, specifically designed for China’s chiller market.

5. Toshiba Carrier Releases Condensing Unit Adopting R448A
At the end of November, Toshiba Carrier released new models of condensing units for commercial refrigeration capable of adopting the next-generation low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant R448A. Toshiba Carrier has become the first company in Japan to release commercial refrigeration condensing units that adopt R448A.
