1. 2015 ATW Market Overview
Despite negative economic indicators in major countries and a declining crude oil price, air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps have maintained stable growth worldwide. According to JARN estimates, the global ATW market reached a scale of 1,779,500 units to post year-on-year growth of 2.0%. Enjoying a wide application scale, ATW heat pumps are now increasingly utilized in industrial applications.

2. European ATW market
2015 European ATW heat pump market growth did not meet expectations overall, with year-on-year growth of some percent and total sales on the scale of 244,000 units. Of this, France takes 76,100 units, Germany 33,000 units, and the United Kingdom more than 19,000 units. Following them, Italy is the fourth-largest market and its demand is expected to grow.

3. Japanese ATW market
According to the Japan Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) statistics, the Eco Cute ATW heat pump market amounted to 406,700 units in Japan in 2015, dropping 6.7% year on year.
The nickname Eco Cute is used by power companies and water heater manufacturers to refer to ATW heat pumps that use natural CO2 refrigerant.

4. Chinese ATW Market
Despite decelerated economic growth in 2015, China has seen rapid development in its ATW heat pump market, generating robust 4.9% year-on-year growth. The sales volume amounted to 1,035,000 units.
China is the world’s largest ATW heat pump market. As a clean technology, ATW heat pumps boast huge market potential with strong support and encouragement from the government. Also, the rising standard of living has boosted demand for hot water supply.

5. U.S. ATW market
According to a BSRIA report, the market volume of ATW cylinder-integrated heat pumps amounted to 82,000 units in the United States in 2015. Most ATW heat pumps sold in the United States are cylinder-integrated ATW models, and few monobloc or split-type ATW heat pumps are sold in the country.
