1. Japanese RAC Sales Soar amid Scorching Temps in Southeast Asia and India
Southeast Asia and India have experienced record-setting heat since April. Thailand sweltered under the hottest heat wave to hit the country in the last 65 years, with some places recording temperatures near 45℃ at the end of April. Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam have seen temperatures near their record highs for this time of year. A record high of 51℃ since measurements began was also recorded in India.

2. ARBS 2016 Closes Doors on Record Breaking Success
ARBS 2016, Australia’s only international air conditioning, refrigeration, and building services trade exhibition, was held from May 17 to 19 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. It broke all previous attendance records, with a new high of 323 exhibitors, up from 274 in 2014. The total number of visitors during three days reached 8,840, increasing by 11.83% from 2014.

3. Carrier Focusing on Successful Launches, Integration, and Services
During China Refrigeration Expo (CRH) 2016, JARN interviewed three executives of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, namely Ross Shuster, president, International; Robert Chiang, vice-president, Global HVAC Engineering; and Gaurang Pandya, president, Asia Pacific. Among other topics, they discussed business opportunities for Carrier and several new products.

4. LG Signs High Profile Chiller Contract for Saudi Arabian Government Projects
LG has won a contract to supply centrifugal chillers to the Governmental Agencies Complex in Riyadh, through its official distributor Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker and Al Fozan as the main contractor. With supplies set to begin in June, the contract marks the first time that a Korean company has been selected to supply centrifugal chillers for a construction project organized by the government of Saudi Arabia.

5. Cold Chain Logistics Market to Reach RMB 400 Billion by 2020 in China
In October 2015, the new Food Safety Law came into effect. The law promotes the overall development and upgrading of the cold chain logistics system to a certain extent. It is predicted that, firstly, investment in cold chain logistics infrastructures will increase, and the cold chain logistics market is expected to rise rapidly to RMB 400 billion (US$ 60 billion) by 2020. Secondly, the development of an integrated cold chain logistics format will be enhanced. Thirdly, the standardization level of cold chain logistics will be promoted.
