1. R32 RACs Poised to Take the EU Market by Storm
Despite economic and political issues such as the euro crisis, the, European Union (EU) market is experiencing brisk demand for room air conditioners (RACs). JARN gained an insight into this trend from manufacturers who attended the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) exhibition held in Milan, Italy, recently.

2. Tecumseh Products Company Announces Leadership Transition
Tecumseh Products Company announced on March 15 that Harold Karp is stepping down as president and CEO of the Ann Arbor-based compressor manufacturer, effective March 14, 2016. He will be succeeded by Doug Murdock, who most recently served as president of the Climate Products Group at Mueller Industries and brings decades of domestic and international manufacturing experience in the climate control industry to the position.

3. Toshiba and Midea Sign MoU on Sale of Toshiba’s Home Appliance Business
Toshiba and Midea Group jointly announced on March 17 that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Toshiba’s sale to Midea of a majority interest in its home appliance business (the Business). Under the envisaged agreement and upon completion of the transaction, the Business will continue to develop, manufacture, and market white goods, such as refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and other small domestic appliances under the Toshiba brand name.

4. Sales of Commercial ACs in China Drop 7% in 2015
 In 2015, China’s economy slowed down, with gross domestic product (GDP) growth dropping to below 7% for the first time since the launching of the national reform and opening up policy. Several unfavorable factors, in particular marked shrinkage of major government-led projects, very adversely affected the commercial air conditioner market in China.
