* Reciprocating Compressors in 2015
Demand for semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors for air conditioning applications surpassed 172,000 units in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 1.1%. Demand for refrigeration applications grew by 2.5% from the previous year. Demand for ATW products continued to grow, especially in Europe, China, and Japan.

1. Japanese Manufacturers Keeping Pace with R32 Use in PACs
At this year’s HVAC&R Japan exposition, almost all Japanese manufacturers exhibited packaged air conditioners (PACs) using the next generation refrigerant R32. They focused on R32 PACs ranging from 3 hp to 6 hp for light commercial use.

2. Daikin Acquires U.S. Filter Manufacturer Flanders
Daikin, through its subsidiary American Air Filter (AAF), has decided to acquire U.S. air filter manufacturer Flanders Holdings. Daikin is to acquire all shares of Flanders for the price of US$ 430 million from Insight Equity Holdings, an investor in the company.

4. ebm-papst Celebrates 20th Anniversary in Southeast Asia
ebm-papst Southeast Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ebm-papst Group in Germany, opened its doors in Singapore 20 years ago. In all this time, it has been the engineering partner for high-efficiency fans in the region, with its own warehouse and logistics in keeping with the ebm-papst mission to provide top service to their customers.

5. Gree Wins the 1st Prize of Science & Technology Advancement Award
The Guangdong Innovation-driven Development Conference, organized by the Guangdong Provincial Government, was held on February 16 to award the Guangdong provincial science and technology projects of 2015. High officials from the provincial government attended the conference.
