* Daikin ADC Bears Fruits of Innovation in Five Years
In August 2015, JARN visited Daikin Applied Development Center (ADC) in Plymouth, a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the United States, and interviewed Mike Schwartz, CEO of Daikin Applied, to hear about the Daikin ADC focusing on its testing facility and its role in Daikin Group.

1. A Review of the 2015 Global Air Conditioner Market
Global economic market and weather conditions were not as good as expected in 2015, and several big markets including China, the United States, and Latin America all showed weak performance. JARN estimates that the global air conditioner market fell by 3.6% year on year in 2015, which is the first drop seen since 2012.

2. Reducing Food Loss and Waste in the Cold Chain
While one-third of the food produced in the world is lost or thrown away before it reaches consumers, 1 billion people around the world are said to be suffering from hunger. Refrigeration, in other words the cold chain, represents the best technology to solve this problem.

3. New Emerson Innovation Center for Building Controls and HVAC Research
In addition to supporting industry research across residential HVAC, supermarkets, commercial kitchens, and data centers, Emerson’s new 40,000 ft2 (over 3,700 m2) innovation center will itself be a lab for commercial building controls and HVAC technology.

4. Carel’s First Heos Store in China
The new hypermarket in Guangzhou City, in the south of China, is the first store in China with Carel’s Heos, the technology that has been awarded with the AHR Innovation Award for the refrigeration category.

5. Bosch VRF Production Base in Hefei Ready to Operate
Bosch and Midea signed the joint venture agreement on March 31, 2015. The VRFs produced by the joint venture will use the Bosch brand and be included into Bosch’s global HVAC product lines. The production line is putting into operation in January 2016.
