German ATW demand has grown in recent years and follows France as the second largest in Europe. In 2014, however, falling prices for gas and oil shifted the market once again toward using gas boilers for heating. In reaction, Germany’s ATW market scale decreased 4% year on year to 43,000 units. With their high initial cost, the ATW heat pump market is not likely to see rapid growth, but solid expansion can still be expected in the future.

5. Trane’s CenTraVac Centrifugal Chiller Wins METI Award
Trane Japan was highly evaluated for sales and marketing activities of its Series E CenTraVac centrifugal chiller in Japan, which is the first such chiller in the world to adopt Honeywell’s HFO refrigerant Solstice zd(E) also known as HFO-1233zd(E). The chiller received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award, which is the highest honor in the 18th Ozone Layer Protection and Global Warming Prevention Awards.
