1. MHI Receives Order for 200,000-ton Cooling Plant in Saudi Arabia
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received an order for 80 units of large capacity centrifugal chillers for the district cooling plant of an urban development project in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The 80 units will provide a combined 200,000 refrigeration tons of cooling capacity to the district cooling plant, which will supply chilled water to an area of 1.6 million m2.

2. Review of the Global Air Conditioner Market in the First Half of 2015
Summer in the Northern Hemisphere arrived quite late this year, and temperatures in many regions did not climb high until mid-June. Air conditioner manufacturers faced not only cool weather but also falling oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and political instability in some regions. The global air conditioner market in the first half of 2015 showed dull performance, contracting 2.2% according to JARN estimates.

3. JCI Opens Industry’s Most Comprehensive VRF Training Center in North America
Johnson Controls (JCI) recently unveiled its new variable refrigerant flow (VRF) training facility in Dallas, Texas, the United States. On June 30, JCI held an opening ceremony of the Johnson Controls VRF Training Center, attended by representatives both from JCI and Hitachi Appliances.

4. Paris Gears Up for Giant Climate Event
The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), COP21, will be held from November 30 to December 11, 2015, in Le Bourget near Paris. COP21 will bring together around 40,000 participants comprising delegates representing each country, observers, and civil society members, and will be the largest diplomatic event ever hosted by France and one of the largest climate conferences ever held.

5. Merger of GMCC and Welling Motor
According to Midea Group, it will merge its Compressor Business Unit, Guangdong Meizhi Compressor Company (GMCC), and its Motor Business Unit, Welling Motor, to establish the Device Business Unit, which will be headed by Xiang Weimin, the incumbent general manager of GMCC. The full scale integration of GMCC, the dominant player in the air conditioning compressor industry, and Welling, the leading brand in the air conditioning motor industry, has started.
