* World Air Conditioner Market 
The global air conditioner market showed slight year-on-year growth in 2014 due to lower potential growth rates in emerging and developing markets. JARN estimates world air conditioner demand at nearly 105.2million units, marking year-on-year growth of 2.2%.

1. LG Challenging the World with B2B 
LG is expanding its commercial air conditioning (CAC) product portfolio and overseas businesses. JARN interviewed Jae-sung Lee, president of system air conditioner (SAC) business unit, LG Electronics, at HARFKO 2015, to hear about new product development, VRF and chiller businesses, LG Air Conditioning Academy and its strength in business strategy.

2. CRH 2015: New Technologies See Wider Utilization 
At the exhibition, overseas and local manufacturers showcased their independently developed magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressors. The industry is anticipating energy-saving benefits from use of magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers. Some German companies displayed new models of heat recovery equipment. More microchannel heat exchangers have also been released in the market.

3. Italian Chiller Market in 2014 
In 2014 Italian market, the sales value of air-cooled chillers grew by 7% over 2013, with an encouraging 12.5% increase in the number of units. Sales of water-cooled chillers grew by 17.5%, although the number of units decreased by 6.4%, evidently due to the application of larger-capacity sizes.

4. AHRI’s Industry-first VRF Certification Program Continues to Expand 
In 2011, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) launched its 37th certification program, for variable refrigerant flow (VRF) multi-split air conditioners and heat pumps. Since that time, AHRI has continued to expand the program to meet the needs of both manufacturers and consumers.

5. Daikin Begins Technical Assistance to Thailand for R32 Refrigerant 
Daikin is participating in a Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) project to support refrigerant conversion of air conditioning equipment in Thailand. It has begun providing technical assistance to twelve local air conditioning manufacturers from April 27, 2015.
