* Idemitsu Kosan Focuses on PVE as Refrigeration Oil
The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) held the International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology 2014 in Kobe, Japan, on November 20 and 21. On the occasion of the symposium, JARN interviewed engineers from Idemitsu Kosan, lubricant manufacturers to learn about developments of new refrigeration oils to meet the specifications of new refrigerants.

1. Emerson Completes Testing, Performance Ratings on R448A/R449A
Emerson Climate Technologies announced it has completed material compatibility testing, application guideline verifications, UL approval qualification and extensive life testing with both R448A and R449A.
These refrigerants have a lower global warming potential (GWP) and serve as replacements for potentially banned refrigerants R404A and R507A, which are commonly used in supermarkets, condensing units and commercial refrigeration equipment.

2. Dunham Bush Pierces into India’s Chennai Metro Rail Project
Dunham Bush won India’s Chennai Metro Rail Project after the victory over tender for Delhi Metro Rail. With a total length of over 45 km, the two-line rail transport system in Chennai, the fourth largest city of 170 km2 in size and about 9 million in population, is scheduled to start operating this year.

3. Decentralized IAQ Control
Independent air ‘purifiers’ in the form of recirculating fan/filter units are becoming increasingly popular as a back up to central air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems. The argument is that treated air from the central system becomes rapidly diluted with room contaminants and needs its quality maintained by in-situ boosters.

4. Climate World in Moscow Defies Challenging Market Environment
The Eurovent association’s annual delegation to the Climate World exhibition has reached new heights in 2015 with 40 industry representatives from Europe and the Middle East attending a four day program including seminars and professional networking events.
