Market growth was slow in the first half of 2014 but improved in the second half with the new government giving positive signals to boost market confidence. Semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors continued to see high growth. There is increasing environmental awareness and needs for high-efficiency compressors, and this segment is growing fast. 4. ATW Sales in 2014 Exceed RMB 10 Billion in China
Statistics show that the sales revenue of air-to-water (ATW) heat pump water heaters exceeded RMB 10 billion (US$ 1.6 billion) in 2014. From January to June 2014, the sales volume of ATWs accounted for only 0.3% of the total water heater market while its sales revenue accounted for 5%. The reason is that the average retail price of ATWs is RMB 5,485 (US$ 885), a lot higher than the price of other types of water heaters.

5. Panasonic Consolidates Cold Chain Solutions Business
As of April 1, Panasonic launched the new company Panasonic Commercial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd. by integrating PESCES, which handles energy-related products such as cold chain equipment, large-scale air conditioning systems, and photovoltaic power generation systems, and Panasonic Food Appliances (PFA), which handles beverage vending machines and commercial microwave ovens and rice cookers.
