* Topics from the Purdue Compressor Conference 2014
For four days from July 14 to 17, 2014, the 22nd International Compressor Engineering Conference, the 15th International Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference, and the 3rd International High Performance Buildings Conference were held at Purdue University, Indiana, the United States. The topics presented here focus on the Compressor Engineering Conference. The 2014 Conference was attended by 759 participants from countries around the world, the highest attendance ever. A total of 410 papers were presented, including 139 papers concerning compressors.

1. LG Invests US$ 1.5 Billion in New Vietnam Production Base
LG Electronics officially announced on March 27 the opening of its newest production facility in Vietnam with the completion of the main building at its Haiphong Campus. For air conditioners, LG plans to produce about 135,000 units of room air conditioners (RACs) in addition to some packaged air conditioners (PACs) this year. These will only be sold in the domestic market in 2015.

2. Toshiba and UTC Sign New Agreement to Localize Operations of HVAC JV
Toshiba and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) announced on March 24 that they plan to establish engineering centers in India, North America and Europe to support global innovation for heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) products. This cooperation is the first to result from the companies’ recent agreement to further strengthen their strategic collaboration through their joint venture, Toshiba Carrier Corporation (TCC).

3. Emerson to Grow Facility Management & Services
During the 2015 AHR Expo held from January 26 to 28 in Chicago, JARN interviewed Ed Purvis, the newly-appointed Emerson Chief Operating Officer, to hear about market conditions and the company’s performance, compressor business, and new business ventures.

4. SODEX ANKARA 2015: HVAC&R Exhibition in the Capital City of Turkey
The latest innovations and the technologies of HVAC&R sector will be discovered in SODEX ANKARA 2015 on May 7-10, 2015 in ATO International Convention & Exhibition Center / ANKARA. New business connections will be created by the meeting of exhibitors and the professionals in this exhibition. Thousands of national and international professionals visited the last edition of SODEX ANKARA.

5. Air Conditioner Enterprises at AWE 2015
The Appliance & Electronics World Expo 2015 (AWE 2015) was held from March 11 to 14 at Shanghai New International Expo Center, which was attended by over 550 enterprises with abundant activities, showing strong vitality of China’s household electrical appliances market. Catering to the popular smart home concept, a smart home experience hall was set up to have visitors feel firsthand the charm of smart homes.
