* Danfoss: ‘Engineer Tomorrow’ on the Leading Edge of Compressor
Danfoss won an AHR Expo 2015 Innovation Award, green building category, for its Danfoss Turbocor VTT series of oil-free, variable speed, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors. JARN interviewed Ricardo Schneider, president and CEO of Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, to hear about its latest generation VVT series of compressors.

1. ASHRAE Proposes Energy Standard for Data Centers
The standard would establish the minimum energy efficiency requirements of data centers and telecommunications buildings for design and construction and for creation of a plan for operation and maintenance, and for utilization of on-site or off-site renewable energy resources.

2. Daikin Steadily Builds Its U.S. Foundation
Daikin announced on January 6 that it plans to expand Goodman’s operations in the United States. 3. New AFEC Director General Pilar Budi Replaces Jose M[a] Ortiz
In January, Pilar Budi was appointed the new director general of the Association Fabricantes de Equipos de Climatizacion (AFEC), the Air Conditioning Manufacturers’ Association of Spain, upon a decision of the Association Board. Replacing Jose Ma Ortiz, who recently retired, Pilar Budi has dedicated most of her professional life to the Association in different capacities.

4. VRF: Strong Driver of Chinese Central AC Industry Development
VRF systems including inverter and Digital Scroll types enjoyed remarkable growth in 2014, with a growth rate exceeding 6.25%. Accounting for more than 40% of total central air conditioner market volume, VRF has been considered a strong driver of industry development.

5. JRAIA Announces Japanese Domestic Shipment of AC&R Equipment
The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) announced the domestic demand forecast (shipment quantities) of 14 main models in 2014-2016 period based on the voluntary statistics of air conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R) appliances by the members of the association.
