Boosted by emerging markets, world screw compressor demand came to 148,000 units in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. China, Europe, and the United States are the three big markets. Their market scale in 2014 were 67,000 units, 35,000 units, 31,000 units, respectively.

1. Panasonic Launches B2B Dedicated AC Business Center for Malaysia
To cater to the growing demand for complete energy-efficient, large-scale air conditioning solutions, Panasonic launched Panasonic Appliances Air- Conditioning System Engineering Malaysia (PAPASEMY) on January 16 when the company held its launching ceremony at Grand Dorsett Subang in Jaya, inviting media and guests.

2. Green Building Initiative Recognizes ASHRAE’s Green Globes Achievement
Green Building Initiative (GBI), a nonprofit organization committed to accelerating the adoption of sustain-able building practices and providers of the Green Globes rating system, congratulates the American Society of Heating and Air- Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) on achieving the highest rating, of four Green Globes, on their international headquarters.

3. Key Ammonia and CO2 Event
The IIR International Conference on Ammonia and CO2 Refrigeration Technologies will be held on April 16-18, 2015, in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. Organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje, the conference themes include the design of modern ammonia refrigerating systems, transcritical and subcritical CO2 systems, techno-logical innovations, energy efficiency, applications in the food and beverage industries, supermarkets, air conditioning systems (liquid chillers), and heat pumps.

4. New F-Gas Rule to Ban HFCs with GWP>750 in 2025
Andrea Voigt, secretary general of the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE), gave a presentation at the International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology 2014 held at the Kobe International Conference Center in Kobe, Japan on November 20-21, 2014. JARN interviewed Ms. Voigt to learn about the F-gas Regulation and refrigerant issues in Europe.

5. Many Rotary Compressor Companies Achieve 2014 Sales Target
Sales volume of Chinese rotary compressor manufacturers came to over 150 million units in 2014. GMCC achieved sales volume of 40 million units. Landa enjoyed sales of over 30 million units. Highly has fulfilled the sales target of 18 million units, and is marching towards 20 million units. Rechi has seen a steady performance with the sales target of 13 million units being fulfilled.
