1. Controversy over Low-GWP and Zero-ODP Refrigerants
A range of low-GWP refrigerants have been developed amid calls for a phase-down of refrigerants with high global warming potential (GWP) in the United States and Europe, and risk assessments of their flammability and safety are underway at a variety of institutions and organizations. Among the low-GWP refrigerants, HFO-1233zd(E) is a new refrigerant that has sparked a discussion on ozone depleting potential (ODP).

2. VRF Systems and Testing Towers
VRF systems are now adopted in large-sized buildings as well. To satisfy researchers, performance under various temperature conditions needs to be verified using rigorous testing room conditions. Under these circumstances, a number of VRF system manufacturers have constructed environmental testing rooms and high-rise test towers able to accommodate the maximum refrigerant piping height difference.

According to the International Copper Association, technical tube alloys provide yet another advantage for users of MicroGroove technology, especially in ACR applications using high-pressure refrigerants such as R744 (i.e., carbon dioxide).
