Thermal Storage Water Heater Legislation Moves Closer to Law

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) applauds the Senate's approval today of regulatory relief for thermal storage water heaters. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and Rob Portman of Ohio were successful in amending the Keystone XL Pipeline Act (S.1) with needed language that resolved an unintended consequence of the water heater efficiency standard set to become effective on April 16 of this year.
