Real GDP growth in China came to 7.7% in 2013, the second consecutive year of growth below 8%. Chinese chiller market growth slowed along with the economic slowdown. The Chinese chiller market was valued at US$ 2.7 billion in 2013 to mark year-on-year growth of 7.3%.

2. Mitsubishi Electric Creates New Market with HVRF
Technological innovation is the mantra of VRF market leader Mitsubishi Electric. Two years ago the company announced its HVRF system in Europe. 3. ASERCOM Certification Program for Condensing Units
The Association of European Refrigeration Component Manufacturers (ASERCOM) has developed a unique program for condensing units which will be implemented in 2014. This standardized process will create a pan-European framework under which a wide variety of condensing units available on the market can be objectively compared, thereby laying the foundation for fair competition. The certification program is currently undergoing beta testing. Pending details will be clarified by the time the EU regulation enters into force.

4. Sanden Environmental Solutions
At a press conference held in Paris on September 24, business of a new branch of Sanden International Europe, Sanden Environmental Solutions (SES), was announced. Based in Rennes, France, SES is devoted to product planning, marketing and sales and will spearhead Sanden’s CO2 technology in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with a focus on modules and systems. The company aims to become the leader in the field of CO2 in these regions thanks to unrivalled expertise, innovation and a strong energy saving focus.

5. Haier Heat Pump Assists Heating in Rural Areas
Rural areas in Northern China are suffering cold winter, and farmers are getting used to dispersed heating by burning coal. Haier watersource heat pumps installed at the Longquan Lake Community offer stable heating in winter and cooling in summer along with domestic hot water supply and a comfortable indoor environment without any supplementary equipment
