* Inaba Releases PD Series Lineset Covering for PACs
Inaba Denko, a leading manufacturer of installation materials for air conditioners, has released the PD series lineset covering for packaged air conditioners (PACs). This round-shaped ducting system is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and is suitable for elevated installations that lift up from the surface of the wall, ceiling, or floor. It can replace conventional racking (jacketing) installation where refrigerant piping is covered with metal plate by installers at each site. PD Duct offers advantages in its multi-purpose utility not only as lineset covering for air conditioners but also for use in refrigeration and freezer storage equipment.

1. Japan Becoming a Technology Galapagos
Technologies and services have continued to evolve amid unique circumstances in modern-day Japan, and in some cases these technologies and services have diverged from global standards. There are in fact a number of Japanese technologies and services that have fallen into the Galapagos syndrome. Companies have mobilized their world-leading technological standards to develop products filled with functions unmatched by foreign manufacturers, but in many cases they fail to take a significant slice of the world market.

2. New EU Energy Regulations for Fan/Motor Units
The second stage of the Energy-related Products (ErP) Directive in Europe extends the original scope to include complete fan and motor assemblies and not just the motor. It applies to all assemblies from 125 W to 500 kW and includes the motor, the power train (e.g. direct coupled or belt drive) and the impeller.
If the assembly does not meet the specified efficiency, it cannot be awarded the Conformite Europeenne (CE) mark and therefore cannot be legally sold inside the EU. It has been estimated that half the fan/motor units currently on the market will not meet the ErP 2015 standard.

3. Gree Develops PV Centrifugal Chiller
Gree’s photovoltaic direct-driven inverter centrifugal chiller utilizes solar energy and has cooling capacity ranging from 250 RT to 1,000 RT. Gree possesses the intellectual property rights and patents for the photovoltaic air conditioning system. The chiller enjoys outstanding energy efficiency in applications. The Zhuhai Gree office building is one example. The project covers an area of 15,000 m2 and uses one 400-kW photovoltaic direct-driven inverter centrifugal chiller. The chiller operates eight hours per day from each April to October. Power output from solar energy reaches 340 kW, saving an annual total of 571,200 kWh in electricity.

4. HARFKO 2015 in Korea on March 10 to 13
HARFKO 2015 will be held in KINTEX, Korea on March10 to 13. Located in between three giant markets, Russia, Japan and China, Korea is the gateway to the East Asian market and is also at the center of a vast Asian market with a total population of 2 billion, including 500 million in the ASEAN countries. HARFKO 2013 hosted around 183 companies, 885 booths from 24 countries and attracted a total of 21,056 visitors from 23 countries.

5. AC Sales in China Increases by 15% in RY 2014
Performance of air conditioner industry in 2014 refrigeration year (RY 2014: from August 2013 to July 2014) is beyond expectation. On August 28, 2014, China Air Conditioner Industry Summit was held in Beijing, which was organized by Information Resources Development Department, China National Information Center. According to the China Air Conditioner Market White Book which was released at the Summit, both sales volume and value of the air conditioner industry in RY 2014 showed 15% year-on-year growth.
