* Panasonic Launches CO2 Refrigeration Systems in China and Asia
Panasonic is planning to expand sales of its cold chain business centering on commercial refrigeration units for supermarket showcases. As a major pillar of its more aggressive overseas strategy, the company intends to strengthen its operations in China and Asia and raise its sales share in China and Asia to more than 50% of total sales (21% at present) with the goal of reaching \300 billion in 2018. As part of this product strategy, Panasonic is strengthening its lineup of energy-saving and eco-friendly products including fluorocarbon-free refrigeration units using CO2 refrigerant.

1. Report of AHR Expo-Mexico
The AHR Expo-Mexico was held from September 23 to 25 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City. Nearly 400 renowned enterprises attended the Expo and showcased their state-of-the-art HVAC&R products, which attracted over 15,000 visitors from around the world. JARN reporters interviewed manufacturers coming all the way from Asia to attend this grand exhibition and received positive responses. Summing up the responses, many manufacturers see Mexico as a high potential market and they have achieved or are considering localized production in Mexico.

2. Citibank Adopts MHI Again
Biokond, an official distributor of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in Russia for the second consecutive year, became a supplier of HVAC equipment for Citibank, one of the biggest banks in Russia, whose network includes more than 50 offices in 12 cities across the country.  MHI’s air conditioning systems cool the sales offices and do precision temperature control necessary for the data processing and technical areas where the bank’s electronic equipment are installed

3. Development of China Air Purifier Market and Standards
In China, progress of industrialization deteriorated air pollution, leading to rapid development of the air purifier industry. Air purifier has developed to be one of the necessities for health-care household electrical appliances just in three years, from 2011 to 2013. From January to May 2014, air purifiers in China enjoyed 88% year-on- year growth, far beyond growth rate of other household electrical appliances. The sales volume will maintain rapid growth in the next three years and the market scale is expected to break RMB 20 billion (US$ 3 billion) in 2014.

4. Briefing of 2014 Purdue Conferences
 Purdue Conferences have been held biennially from 1972 under the auspices of the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories, Purdue University. The conferences this year were the 22nd edition. The conferences initially focused on compressors. Starting in 1986, however, the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference began to be held concurrently. The High Performance Buildings Conference was added from 2010.
The conferences this year were attended by 759 participants from around the world, the highest participation ever, with 410 papers presented.

5. Scroll Compressors Sales Exceed 2.5 Million Units in January-July
According to data from China local statistics institution, sales volume of scroll compressor came to 2.56 million units from January to July, indicating 8.4% year-on-year growth. Among them, total export volume came to 430,000 units, showing 11.5% year-on-year growth. The top three export destination countries were Brazil, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.
