* Europe (World Heat Pumps Market)
The European ATW market peaked in 2008 when it reached a scale of 300,000 units. Around this time, Europe was hit by the global economic crisis and the ATW market began to contract. This contraction proved to be temporary, however, and the market has gradually recovered since 2011. JARN estimates the European ATW market at 221,000 units in 2013, an increase of 3.3% over 2012.

5. Emerging Refrigeration Markets Spur the Global Demand
Currently, the United States, Europe, and Japan account for a large share of the global refrigeration market. However, the standard of living in developing markets such as China, Southeast Asia, India, and Latin America has risen markedly over the last 20 years and with it, demand for food preservation through refrigeration and freezing has also risen. Along with this market shift, established European refrigeration manufacturers are beefing up their production and sales operations in countries such as China, India, and Brazil.
