Despite its huge potential, the Indian air conditioner market did not expand in line with predictions in 2013 due to the depreciation of the Indian rupee and unseasonable weather. However, strong basic demand still prompted market scale to reach 3.8 million units in 2013, indicating 9.6% year-on-year growth.

1. Australia Getting into Gear to Shift to R32
Japanese manufacturers place priority on the Australian market, where profit from air conditioner products is higher than elsewhere, and have launched their key strategic products here. After launches in the Japanese market, these manufacturers have begun to release R32 air conditioners in the Australian market.

2. Refrigerant Leak Detection
From January 2015 most ACR systems will be compelled under the F-gas Regulations to adopt regular checks for refrigerant leakage. The frequency depends basically on the refrigerant charge and varies with the refrigerant being used.

3. Ziehl-Abegg Invests E27 Million in New Plant
Ziehl-Abegg has invested a total of around E27 million into the building, located just off the A6 Autobahn that runs across southern Germany. The new construction by Ziehl- Abegg will create better opportunities for developers. There are multiple test benches and two test lifts. At the same time, the company is underlining its manufacturing depth.

4. Inverter ACs Grow amid Stagnant Market
Despite the negative market conditions, sales of inverter air conditioners increased sharply in the first quarter of 2014. At the end of March 2014, the sales volume of inverter RACs at retailers accounted for over 70% of total RAC sale.

5. Kobe Symposium 2014 to Focus on Safety Analyses of Mildly Flammable Refrigerants
The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) will organize the International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology 2014 (Kobe Symposium) on November 20 and 21 at the International Conference Center in Kobe, Japan. As part of the symposium, JRAIA also plans to have a poster session.
