3. Scroll Compressors

Scroll compressors were first commercialized in Japan in 1983 for PAC applications. Currently, scroll compressors are sold in capacities as small as less than 1 hp and as large as 60 hp. They can be used in a broad range of applications, including RACs, PACs, VRF systems, and chillers in the air conditioning sector as well as ATW heat pumps and refrigeration systems including freezers.
