New Idea to Beat Illegal Refrigerants

The sharp rise in the cost of R134a has prompted an increase in the amount of counterfeit refrigerants entering the market. These are basically a mix of HCFCs but more importantly some have been augmented by methyl chloride (R40) which has been implicated in a number of explosions in compressor circuits.
