A Brief History of Inverters

Inverter technology has added distinctly higher value to air conditioning products. The world’s first inverter-driven air conditioner was developed in December 1980. That is when Tokyo Shibaura Electric (currently Toshiba Carrier) first equipped a commercial- use air conditioner with an inverter, and the following year in December 1981 it was also the first in the world to make an inverter residential air conditioner (which was reportedly marketed in 1982).
