Growth in emerging markets slowed in 2012 for the first time in several years, which had a large impact on global air conditioner market conditions. China, the world’s largest air conditioner market, saw its market scale shrink 8% in 2012 over the previous year to 37.8 million units. In Brazil, the largest market in the southern hemisphere, demand fell 1.6% year on year to 3.2 million units in 2012.
