Expensive bills and uncertainties about future gas supplies require reflection and ideas on possible forms of heating, domestic and industrial. Today it is possible to heat without using gas (methane, LPG, or diesel), choosing renewable and non-fossil energy sources. A shining example of this approach is heat pumps: a technology that uses thermal energy from external renewable sources such as air, water, and geothermal for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water production.
