1. Indian AC Market in the First Half of 2018
Since the peak selling months for air conditioners in most of India are mid-February to mid-June, the first half of 2018 saw negative growth of about 6% compared with last year, with the secondary market scale at 3.28 million units excluding ducted type models. Contrary to this trend, West India, which was not seriously affected by erratic weather, saw marginal growth in sales. Within the RAC category, the window type accounted for about 11.7% of sales and the wall-mounted split type about 86.2%, with the remaining 2.1% going to cassettes and floor-standing units.

2. Bitzer and Beijer Ref Continue Close Cooperation
Compressor specialist Bitzer and wholesaler Beijer Ref renewed their partnership agreement in July 2018 for the coming three years. This long term cooperation ensures global growth for both companies. The two companies have been working together for many years. The new contract covers 44 associated Beijer Ref companies, of which six are located outside Europe.

3. Chemours Showing Its Strength with Lower GWP Refrigerants
During China Refrigeration Expo (CRH) 2018 held in Beijing in April, JARN interviewed Diego Boeri, vice president of Chemours Fluorochemicals, to hear about the company’s refrigerant business strategy under more stringent environmental regulations in the global market.

4. Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) Announces Updates to Residential Business Leadership Team
On July 30, METUS announced two changes to its sales leadership team. Tim Burnette has been appointed as vice president of residential business and Steve Scarbrough has been promoted to senior director of residential business. Tim Burnette will oversee the integration and management of cobranded residential ductless sales activities through the Ingersoll Rand channels.  Steve Scarbrough will serve as the main liaison to the Trane Dealer Sales Office channel, which has a concentrated presence within the South, Southwest, and Central regions he will lead.

5. Clivet Holds First Overseas Key Partner Conference in China
On July 4, 2018, the first Clivet Overseas Key Partner Conference was held in Chongqing, China, where Midea’s large tonnage chiller factory is located. The conference opened with a welcome speech delivered by Aaron Lee, general manager of Midea’s Chongqing Factory. He spoke highly of the major achievements that Midea chillers have accomplished for more than 50 years. During the conference, all customers showed very positive reactions regarding the manner in which Midea and Clivet have coordinated and are cooperating to shape a better future.
