According to Charlie Wernette, Director of Engineering H-E-B, hydrocarbons were selected because the retailer wanted to use an efficient, natural refrigerant, but did not want to invest in CO2. “Compared to an R404a store, we are projecting a 70% reduction in energy reduction,” said Norm Street, Hussmann’s director of new technology development.
