MarketsandMarkets predicts that the global data center cooling market will grow from US$ 9.4 billion in 2020 to US$ 15.7 billion in 2025 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.7%. Such strong demand appears to be driving the creation of various cooling technologies for data centers.

2. JCI Selects R454B for New Ducted and Air-cooled Scroll Chillers
After extensive research, testing and evaluation, Johnson Controls (JCI) has selected R454B, a lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, to replace R410A in its ducted residential and commercial unitary products as well as air-cooled scroll chillers.

3. The 13th IEA Heat Pump Conference Demonstrates Mission for Green World
The 13th International Energy Agency (IEA) Heat Pump Conference (HPC2020) took place on April 26 to 29, 2021, as a hybrid event with an online platform in addition to an offline platform at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, Jeju, South Korea. The conference served as a forum to discuss the latest heat pump technologies, and to exchange and standards applying to related technologies.

4. 2nd COVID-19 Wave Hits Indian AC Summer Sales
The second wave seems to have peaked by mid-May, and the industry expects restrictions to be phased out by July-August. The hardest hit industries are those that depend heavily on summer sales for their annual performance. For the second consecutive year, sale of air conditioners, coolers, and refrigerators are badly hit, with their market scale likely to be less than half of that in the period from April to May 2019.

5. Musings on HVAC&R - Reduction of CO2 Emissions by Achieving Energy Savings in Air Conditioning
Reducing CO2 emissions is a challenge for humankind as a whole and an issue for the entire planet. It is important for countries where air conditioners are already widespread to instruct and support countries in which the use of air conditioners is expanding to reduce CO2 emissions by saving energy in air conditioners. Furthermore, education on the environment, CO2 emissions reduction, and energy savings will be important. It is meaningful to increase the opportunities for such education to be received by people involved in air conditioning industry, and of course, users of air conditioners.
