Water-cooled and Air-cooled Chiller Trends

 Chillers are largely classified as water-cooled chillers rejecting heat from a cooling tower through cooling water and air-cooled chillers directly rejecting heat through condenser coils with fans. Air-cooled chillers can be used as an air-source heat pump by reversing the refrigerant flow in order to use air coils as an evaporator.
