EcoPro 2017 Aims to Realize Sustainable Society

For three days from December 7 to 9, 2017, at the Tokyo Big Sight, the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry (JEMAI) and Nikkei jointly held the EcoPro 2017 - International Exhibition on the Environment and Energy. About 600 companies and organizations took part, including leading companies in the field of environment, government offices, local governments, non-profitable organizations (NPOs), and educational facilities. The three-day event received more than 160,000 visitors. Like the previous edition, at this year’s exhibition, various projects were presented, centering on the environment and energy issues aiming to propose the realization of sustainable society.
 
Adopted at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in September 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of 17 major goals including the elimination of poverty, realization of clean energy, and the taking of countermeasures against climate change with a view to attaining by 2030. The SDGs are attracting a lot of attention as an approach that all UN member nations entered an agreement to solve the social problems facing the world.
