Daikin Launches Information and Technology Course for Its Personnel

In July, 2017, Daikin signed a comprehensive partnership contract focusing on the information science with Osaka University, and launched an internal course of lectures called Daikin Information and Technology College within its Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) on December 5, 2017. Under the contract, professors from Osaka University give lectures to Daikin’s personnel with a view to fostering capable persons who will promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
 
At the college, members who are selected from a wide range of sections of the company will take part in a nine-month program as trainees. For the first six months, lectures on basic knowledge of AI will be delivered to the trainees once a week by the professors from Osaka University, and for the following three months, the trainees will carry out data analysis exercises using actual tasks involving their own sections that will be implemented later. Within a total of nine months, the trainees will be educated to become talented specialists in three categories who are capable of promoting the use of AI in accordance with the needs of their respective sections.
