Thailand to Apply Zero Tariff to Chinese-made ACs
2018/01/21
The Thai government plans to cut the import tariff on Chinese-made air conditioners to 0% from around March 2018, opening up great business opportunities for all air conditioner manufacturers with production bases in China.

Thailand is one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia, with an air conditioner market volume of more than 1.4 million units in 2017 according to JARN’s estimates. A scorching climate and a large young population make Thailand a market with huge business potential.

Thailand is also one of the largest air conditioner manufacturing bases worldwide. A number of Japanese and South Korean manufacturers have shifted their production bases from China to Thailand, mainly due to increasing labor costs in China. Chinese manufacturers have followed suit. Haier has set up a factory and Gree has built a small assembly plant in the country.
