Dec 06, 2017
St. Louis -- Wiegmann Associates has completed Design/Build heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing work as part of a $25 million modernization project at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington. Wiegmann served as the HVAC & plumbing design build contractor and Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project. The Korte Company was the general contractor.

The renovation and addition provided space for maintenance, building support, squadron tactics and administrative offices to accommodate the Navy’s EA-18G Growler aircraft and squadrons.

The 74,000-square-foot project at the U.S. Navy’s premier Pacific Northwest naval aviation installation included the renovation of a 43,000-square-foot hangar and administrative building; and construction of a new adjoining 31,000-square-foot, two-story addition. Together, the renovation and addition provided space for maintenance, building support, squadron tactics and administrative offices to accommodate the Navy’s EA-18G Growler aircraft and squadrons. The energy-efficient facility is expected to achieve LEED Silver Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
