Absorption Systems that Help Prevent Global Warming

The International Sorption Heat Pump Conference 2017 (ISHPC2017) was held from August 7 to 10 at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. It was hosted by the Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE) and the ISH-PC2017 Organizing Committee, and cohosted by Waseda Universzity. A total of around 200 attendees from 23 countries took part in the fourday event. Two-thirds of them were from overseas.
 
In recent years, as embodied by the Paris Agreement, long-range goals and challenges toward a low-carbon society to be realized by 2050 have been drawing a great deal of attention not only in Japan but also overseas.
 
In the Paris Agreement, it is stipulated that “it is necessary to make efforts to keep the rise in average temperature in the world at a level lower enough than 2oC compared to that before the Industrial Revolution, and retain it at 1.5oC at the highest.” For this goal, it becomes indispensable not only to realize innovative measures for energy saving, but also to utilize natural energy as much as possible.
