Indonesia’s economic growth rate slowed down to around 5% in 2016, impacted by lower commodity prices. Indonesia’s infrastructure is still lagging behind that of other developing countries. The Indonesian government has made efforts to build six major economic corridors throughout Indonesia, building a total of US$ 200 billion in infrastructure projects such as electricity and transportation. With thriving industries such as light manufacturing, food, fabric, and petroleum refining, these projects would bring huge opportunities for the industrial air conditioning market.
 
The Indonesian chiller market in 2016 contracted to US$ 73.9 million, a decrease of 1.0% compared with 2015. The screw chiller sector, which accounted for nearly half of the total chiller market on a value basis, was a major factor in the market contraction. The scroll segment recorded positive growth of 1.8%, increasing to US$ 10.9 million in 2016.
