CO2 Refrigeration and Heat Pump Technology Discussed in Tianjin, China
2017/10/23
From September 17 to 18, the International Symposium on Natural Working Fluid CO2 Refrigeration and Heat Pump Technology was held in Tianjin, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and China’s Foreign Economic Cooperation Office under Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP -FECO), and co-organized by the China Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Association (CRAA), the Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR), and the Tianjin Association of Refrigeration (TAR).

The Chinese government has taken positive actions since the start of the second phase of the country’s hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) phase-out. During the first phase spanning 2011 to 2015, the air conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R) industry eliminated a total of 19,100 tons of HCFCs, successfully achieving the 10% reduction target. During the second phase, more than 30,000 tons of HCFCs will be phased out, and 14,700 tons are being phased out thanks to production line trans-formation. The industrial and commercial AC&R sector needs to phase out 33%, and the residential AC&R sector needs to phase out 45%. The industrial, commercial, and residential AC&R manufacturing industry received US$ 178 million in funding and the maintenance industry received US$ 15.97 million in funding.
