Dorin on the Way to Success with CO2 Compressors

CO2 has nowadays become the standard refrigerant choice for many applications, often achieving better coefficient of performances (COPs) than those of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a lower global warming potential (GWP), and a significant energy cost reduction for several in-dustrial sectors.
 
The challenges that Dorin, as a compressor manufacturer, had to face are resumed in high thermal stresses (discharge temperature up to 200°C); high pressure fields (pressure ratio eight times higher compared with HFC applications); small bores, causing an extremely high load on the rod small end; and high miscibility with lubricants, imposing advanced tribological solutions.
 
Dorin set out from the very beginning to design a new type of compressor that is completely focused on CO2. Instead of adapting HFC compressors for carbon dioxide applications, Dorin decided to invest significant resources in order to design a new product specifically for CO2.
