Toward zero-emissions
A notable number of Japanese companies have set the ambitious environmental management target of zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

What they are pursuing is not a low-carbon society, but a post-carbon society. Recently, the environmental planning general manager of a major Japanese tech firm gave a presentation before company executives during a conference on the company’s environmental vision for 2050. In it, he emphasized the need to achieve zero CO2 emissions.
 
The major principles of the environmental plan this manager proposed follow the international rules to combat climate change laid out in the Paris Agreement, including 1) targeting zero emissions at the company and 2) contributing to a post-carbon society using the company’s information and communications technology (ICT).
