India Gathering Attention from Chinese Manufacturers as a Production Base
2017/08/26
Midea has announced a plan to invest US$ 123.5 million in India to establish a home appliance manufacturing factory. The new factory is expected to begin production at the end of 2018. Once in full operation, the factory will be able to produce 0.5 million refrigerators, 0.6 million washing machines, 1 million water heaters, and other home appliances per year.

In fact, this is not Midea’s first factory in India. In 2012, Midea and Carrier reached an agreement to build a factory in India in cooperation, with US$ 20 million and US$ 13 million investment from Midea and Carrier, respectively, which became Midea’s fifth largest overseas base.
Apart from Midea, Haier also highly values the Indian market. Haier set up an industrial park in India as early as in 2006, and announced to expand the industrial park in June 2016.
