LEED in Motion in Japan

On March 23, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) held a seminar on its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) at Kashiwanoha Conference Center in Chiba, Japan. Peter Templeton, senior vice president, Global Market Development of USGBC, made a presentation titled ‘LEED in Motion: Japan’.
 
According to his presentation, the USGBC is working to transform places where people live, work, and play to achieve sustainability. Its primary tool, LEED, is everywhere, in 160 countries and growing. USGBC has nearly 37,000 LEED certified commercial projects, and nearly 53,000 projects awaiting certification, totaling 1.1 billion m 2. Everyday more than 206,000 m2 certifies to LEED. In Japan nearly 2.5 million m2 participate in LEED.
