2017/06/22
The Paris Agreement, the new international framework for combating climate change, went into force on November 4 of last year, and the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) was held from November 7 to 18 in Marrakesh, Morocco. The world is aiming to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions to effectively zero in the second half of the 21st century in order to keep the rise in temperature since the Industrial Revolution to less than 2oC. This represents the start of efforts by countries worldwide to realize a post-carbon society that does not rely on fossil fuels.
