May 15, 2017
Dubai Holding unveiled Marsa Al Arab, a $1.7 billion megaproject geared towards tourists that is set to be built on two islands on either side of the Burj Al Arab hotel.

undefinedExpected to complete by late 2020, the project was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and will break ground in June, according to a statement from Dubai Holding.

Marsa Al Arab is spread across 4 million sq. ft. and will add 2.2KM of beach frontage. One island will be dedicated to entertainment and family tourism, while the other comprises an exclusive luxury resort.

Works on the project will include relocating the Wild Wadi Waterpark closer to the beach, more than doubling its existing size, the development of ‘Marine Park’, a marine life edutainment centre including a theatre that will feature a capacity of 1,700 seats and the Dubai Pearl Museum, which will showcase a historical collection of rare pearls from the region and around the world, along with a “pearl-inspired boutique hotel.”
