Panasonic Donates 2,400 Solar Lanterns to 11 Humanitarian & Non-Governmental Organizations in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Hidehiko Kondo, Chief Representative, Panasonic Asia Pacific Cambodia Branch Office, commented, "Today’s donation marks the fourth of such efforts under the 100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project in Cambodia. In the past three years, we have received positive feedback from our partners. The solar lanterns have been used in the education and healthcare fields, and also improve the quality of life. Panasonic will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as part of its CSR efforts and one of which is through the provision of safe and stable lighting; a basic necessity that is lacking in this country."
Approximately 16%* (1.2 billion people) of the world’s population live without access to electricity. Cambodia’s national non-electrification rate is the second highest among the ASEAN countries at approximately 66%* With the lack of electricity, it means daily lives can be greatly affected.
