Panasonic has been making moves to strengthen its refrigeration business. It completed the acquisition of Hussmann, a U.S. refrigeration equipment giant, in April, and formed a new company, Panasonic Appliances Refrigeration System (Dalian), in July. On this occasion, JARN interviewed Tetsuro Homma, president of Appliances Company, Panasonic, to hear about its refrigeration business strategy.
Tetsuro Homma, president Appliances Company
JARN (J): Panasonic established Panasonic Appliances Refrigeration System (Dalian) in July. What were the main objectives of this?
Tetsuro Homma (H): Up to now, Panasonic Appliances Compressor (Dalian) (PAPCDL) and Panasonic Appliances Cold Chain (Dalian) (PAPCCDL) each handled refrigeration system engineering work in China. Refrigeration system engineering market scale is expanding rapidly in China, so we set up a company to specialize in this market.
